Matthew 13; Verse 44; (Parable; Worth/Self-Worth; Treasure in the Field Part I)

Continuing on in the awesome chapter of Matthew 13, verse 44 here. (Treasure in the field Part I).

Hidden in the field once again. That is why it is imperative to learn and understand the parables. Christ is teaching us what would be hidden, so it is not for us. Everyone can relate. As you put up your earthly treasures up for safe-keeping. The value we put on them (we know these examples from Matthew 6 especially).

But more, Christ showing this because these are things (hidden treasure we will never find is the point) we put our self-worth before salvation. As a result the want to be respected because of riches. Judging things by them. Judging people by them. Which condemns the just, and finds the innocent guilty. So we see the resulting factors of why the love of money is the root of all evil. Loving anything of the world first, of the flesh this the automatic effect. Moreover, if by any means one is serving man, then looking for man to make complete/whole is where we find our self-worth automatically as a result. Exactly why this teaching from Christ.

Christ using this illustration to show how far He went for us and the worth He finds in us, thus in response our self-worth found in the Lord. In turn gaining self-respect for ourselves, (then the ability to have it for others). In the Bible this is called honor. All things begin with belief/repentance. This why humility comes before honor as well.

Many say respect (esteem or admire) is earned. That is a faulty statement in itself Biblically. In the sense that agape love is to have respect in that God created all people. Now beyond that, yes respect is earned. But this is important to differentiate for our faith, how we feel, how we view the world.

Overall, the parable is to show you are worth it. You are worth every bit of His blood, sweat, and tears, literally and figuratively.

Lastly, to find a treasure in a field it would be buried. Christ also giving us this illustration in how deep He dug for us. Therefore, we dig in response. Of course, once we do that we are no longer ditch-diggers to others i.e. the blind leading the blind.

Thank you for taking a look †

(Matthew 13:44) "Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.

What's it like in Heaven? How does God operate? What does He think of His creation? Individually?

Treasure = How much He values you (His view on you, and your self-worth). Other Christians should be doing the same.

(Our Father though Christ is searching for people. Joy to sell all He had? As Christ was our ransom in serving us-ward. "Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise Him.

The field = The land of the world. As we inherit ALL things once we give up this chase, and abide in Christ, thus the rest. Are you tired out? Finding no long-lasting value in the world, only to please people, but you find no self-worth in them? they find no worth in return? Exactly, that is the way of the world. Except with the LORD and better be with other Christians.

(Isaiah 53:10) "Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand."

The true exchange (not like the NY stock exchange, nothing hidden in this sense): His life that you may have life (Ransom, paid the price for redeeming). We cannot buy salvation. In other words, do right to be accepted by God. No, matter of fact we do wrong (in ignorance) coming to belief/repentance accepted by God, then do right on account of that.

(Matthew 20:28) "Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many."

Remember, we went over in Matthew 6:24-35. The Christians self-worth in believing. Where we lay up our treasures first as well. Christ was showing the exact same here. The worth of the physical things that will be gone, but you the Christian believer will not be gone. Matthew 5:5, "blessed are the meek; for they shall inherit the earth."

Reference in 4 verses for all the above from Ephesians 2:7-10,

7"That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.

(Taste of Heaven, the senses in knowing. We appreciate that as well. Before salvation with no reality on this. As Christianity is a relationship, not a religion based on our works. No, our complete brokenness before God, and dependency upon Him there forth. Who can get past commandment one? Commandment is worshiping His creation over Him, or equaling it. Love of money a biggie).

8For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

(Grace = unmerited favor in kindness. He did not have to do it. It is not only a gift, but THE GIFT).

9Not of works, lest any man should boast.
(They cannot brag how good they are in front of the Lord, I did this for you, I did that for you. Just like other Christians don't do exercise the same over others. The pharisees a great example in being masters at that).

10For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them."

(Amazing? His works for your works in this sense. Meaning by faith the works will also come, true faith. Walk in them, where we travel. Where we go. This is not a one and done, but a part of you. Working for the LORD through Christ. Look at this word created. As in a new creation in Christ, the old person is gone. Living a new life, changes in them senses spiritually. Remember, working? Working for the world? Christ said come rest? The goal is that we do it but yet it feel effortless, not being one-sided. Cannot be done unless we break bondage first).

God's amazing plan of salvation. Which I consider all the power of the Lord and a huge miracle. One sinner saved beginning in spiritual heart "surgery" to the mind, them senses; vision, hearing, smell, taste, and touch. Soul = You/Yourself. Your own Spirit = The intellect of your soul.

Therefore, we conclude self-worth and confidence begins with faith and through faith and feelings should result accordingly to how God feels. Being accepted by the Lord. Who can come between that? No, they should be on the same team. However, I want to point out we are to share that treasure (hence works/working). Meaning, it's not only your God, but the same God as brethren, and others who would and will be saved.

AMEN †
