Matthew 7; Verses 7-12; Due Dilligence

Thank you for taking a look †

(Matthew 7:7-12) "Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock (the door), and it shall be opened unto you:

(Ask = reduced to beggary. Seek = asking questions. Knock = Like please open, not barging the door down like one owns the place i.e. entitled. Then thinking we're entitled to God's promises/blessings).

Let's take a deeper look at sincerity.

Ask - beggary, as if you are out in the streets spiritually with no money (as we cannot buy salvation), cannot even a get a crumb of bread. Losing energy without anything to eat we need that bread of life (sustaining) that is Christ. A beggar on the street only focus is eating when starving with hunger pains only increasing.

Seek - Out on the streets one of two ways to go, seeking the right path. No, if we're begging we have to be moving. Not just sitting there expecting it just fall out of the sky.

Finally, the door. As in a house, and inn. A place to eat and rest after being invited in. Like the spiritual wise virgins who kept their lamps burning. Are you searching for answers? Going by verse by verse?

We''ll see this finished analogy below. No person would reject the beggar in the end who has nothing. So, how much more with the LORD?

However, at the same time, remember this man. What an honest asking for an increase of faith,

(Mark 9:23-24) "Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.

24And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief."

So, putting this together. Christ is saying, standing outside that door locked out in the wilderness (the world) if we want to think to come in, honestly begging, crying out in sincerity in desparation. Once again, notice it's a given He's inside there. Christ giving us this because of pride. It is not easy thing to ask for help asking others. But here we need get over that--out of our minds. When it comes to the LORD, humbling ourselves. That reservation there in asking for helping breaking that wall down. Like breaking down the Berlin wall.

Back to Matthew 7:8,

8For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

(Come on in. After that desperation. Kind of like, once you come in I'm going to give you the keys. That key being knowledge and understanding).

9Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone?

(Remember what satan tempted Christ with? "If thou be the son of God, turn this bread into stone." Christ emphasizing here, our search better be spiritually, not physically. As stone, hard as rock. We don't even like putting that old hard crusted out bread in our mouths. Stone as satan is the smooth stone worn over time from the mark of the beast).

This of course one of satan's biggest m.o.'s with Scripture. What he does is use the physical things to make promises now he cannot keep. Essentially, he can make bread appear and be "breadwinner" out of the most of extreme circumstances as well. We see types now as in man trying to be breadwinner to the poor without doing right, and through Christ. Christians become fishers of men, givers. Not on the take is the point.

10Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent?

And so it is. You honestly ask for the meat of the Word, your not going to get satan (the serpent), some slimy snake meat?  Christ is making the slicing difference between the Father and satan. If you read over this stuff you will no understand God's Word.

11If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?

Naturally, we want our kids to have the best, the finest, and the best there is to offer. And that is A okay. A huge separation here between God and man from verse 7 up above.

Furthermore, Christ is making the illustration here satan rewards his own too. The serpent (satan), and the off spring of the serpent (generation of vipers).

Christ wants to give us a fish sandwich (bread of life and meat of the Word here), but bite into a stone and your bitter (teeth on edge). But we must come in sincerity in desperation. Now, I would not wait to around for traumatic events, blows in life for this. Because we pay the price everyday without the LORD in our lives. Everyday is a wasted day. The things of the world. Really, ask yourself, leaving the things, the lust of the flesh of the world what are you missing out on?

Everything HE does and says is for our salvation, our eternity, and our own-well being. We must trust that. Think not, take a deeper look at the cause and effect of sin. It only destroys and separates us from Him, and then people. Christians do not live as in not to sin, that is serving the law. We learn what Christ said, serving our Father though Him, and His work for us on the cross. In the process of doing that the law is there to correct us. Get us on track through repenting. Not repentance to salvation. But repenting because of deep remorse, sincerely sorry. So, we've been there HE is not mad. He says move on. Therefore, don't be too hard on yourself. We don't need self-defeat when He already defeated that negativity for us. Christ is our intercessor in all things. Faith requires doing just that, being doers. For example, let's say Paul. Can you imagine had he just sit there and do nothing after that "get your butt in gear" moment on the road to Damascus? We would not have a Gospel. Therefore, You think it a may be a small thing your moves in faith, it is not. It cannot be measured.

As I always like to point out, the very fact your responding is HIM with you. Kind of like Christ walking on the water, He did not say to Peter, well your no good now. He was teaching him to have faith. We need to trust the LORD in this very important time period. He says you make a move, you better get moving, or you are only going to pay for it sinking spiritually, and eventually drowning.

Christ gives us many analogies like being locked in prison in doing what He says for good reason. Why? Go put the thought of pending prison sentence over someone and in desperation you will see they are doing all they can to get out of it, getting their butts in gear.

Many say, "I need faith", "will God show Himself." He is, but we have to recognize it. Even so, half-hearted attempts we will naturally feel that unsureness along with insecurity. This is where we find that trust in Christ that can never be wavered again making these steps. See, Christ was always there, it is us who are not. Let's get our heart and heads in it. Faith causes us to move. Like Peter early on he was not comfortable either. But it came did it not? I'd say in the end it's said he demanded to be crucified upside down, absolute fearless with the utmost respect for the LORD he certainly had.

12Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets."

Do unto others as you want them done to you, this of course according to God's plan. What I mean if you want 72 virgins waiting for you because you want that for another as well, well enough said (pretty sick motivation, obviously a false made up god with no love). The doing must be within God's law is the point.

Finishing up in reference to Matthew 7:12:

(Luke 6:31-33) "And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise.

(Do unto others as you would have them done to you. This is always where we can get lost in law. Many people ask after a certain sin or not a sin, is it okay to do this, do that? Two wrongs never make a right with God. NO MATTER WHAT).

32For if ye love them which love you, what thank have ye? for sinners also love those that love them.

Love for what they can get and get out of them. That is the extent of the love of those of the world. Christ is saying what makes you any different?

(Luke 6:36) "Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful."

(Love begins with compassion and then mercy, and forgiveness. Obviously so, this is what gave us the gift of God in grace through faith at the cross. Love binds this all together. As the cross was deep affection to have pity on us, ultimately those who come to believe. We did not deserve it).

Back to verse 33,

33And if ye do good to them which do good to you, what thank have ye? for sinners also do even the same."

(Like saying I will only do you right, if you do right by me first. No, no, no. Someone also has to make the first step here. Be a leader. If my actions are dependent upon someone who has no compassion, mercy, and no forgiveness I'm just as stuck as they are).

(The point is doing right for the sake of Christ. Doing right does not, and should not depend on another persons actions. Matter of fact you could say they control how you think, feel, and then act. Christ is to be in control of that in our minds).

Remember, that which is not in faith is sin.
How is it done after salvation? Keeping God's law by serving Christ in faith. Who He is and what He came to do. The Messiah. Obviously, this cannot be done without studying Matthew 5-7 specific, the heart and mind changing chapters. Dealing with the law, feelings, and motivation.
