Matthew 7; Verses 24-29; Construction

Thank you for taking a look †

(Matthew 7:24-29) "Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:

First of all what sayings? Matthew 5 up until this point. The Sermon on the Mount. The foundational building blocks from the heart then mind, knowing and understanding Christ' Word(s).

Hear then do. Faith then works. What is the first thing people say? But, I heard you. But their not listening because they did not do it. We account that to not listening. So how much more with the Lord?

The LORD IS THE ROCK. satan is a false rock of course. satan (w/the fallen angels) coming as the accuser and the flood of lies we will see here those with no foundation have no chance to begin with. Those that overcome will have:

(Revelation 12:10-11) "And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.

11And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

References:

(Matthew 24:38-39) 38"For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,

39And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

(Genesis 6:2) "That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose."

(Revelation 12:9) "And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him."

(Revelation 12:15) "And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood."

OT.

(Daniel 11:22) "And with the arms of a flood shall they be overflown from before him, and shall be broken; yea, also the prince of the covenant."

Moving on,

(Christ is looking for construction workers, beginning with building one's own house, with Christ being THE boss. Here first laying that foundation. You cannot very well put anything into the ground until it's opened up, that is to say the heart--ready to receive, and the mind will follow. But Christ is one of those bosses that likes hands on too. He comes and gets His hands dirty right with you, showing the way. They've also removed real dirt, not always liking what they see, worms, nasty critters, etc. But they kept on digging. No trying to look pretty here).

Other Christians should of course be helping in this building process (edification), not tearing down.

25And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.

Notice: Both houses are going to take a beating. This house withstood them lies from the storm(s). Rain and winds. = Flood of lies blowing a bunch of hot air--worry and lies that come against them, and the hits taken from it.

26And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:

(The key is to dig deep from the onset of receiving Christ and the Gospel. Notice the fall was great. Why? They did not learn how to build correctly from the get-go. No foundation. Christians use real shovels, not some kiddie shovel and a little bucket at the beach. Also because of laziness, trying to take the easy way out. No this is likened to rebuilding a flimsy house with no substance no work in the first place. So you can imagine the will to rebuild won't be there again, as there was no foundation in the Lord in the first place. Essentially, they tried to build on their own self-serving foundation).

27And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it."

(Are we trying to skip the land surveying? Clearing out the garbage so it does not fall in the hole during excavating? Then able to lay the foundation correctly; Measuring, pouring, and framing it correctly. Trying to look pretty? All of this takes close inspection).

(When the supervisor/inspector (Christ) comes is He happy with skipping the process? No, that house is condemned after inspection. No foundation on that rock that is that Christ-the immovable force, they tried to build it by themselves).

Would you say the other construction workers would be happy? See someone is now really showing up to work claiming they did, then want paid for it.

(The awesome thing is Christ never lays off or even thinks to terminate sincere committed workers).

28And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at his doctrine:

(Because up until then and since no one ever existed could teach like this).

29For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes."

(Well, they cannot. The power is the Word of God that changes lives. For that is the power of God--making things simple. Not as satan's and man's word causing nothing but babble/confusion. Scribes would like to try and take away that power of the Lord).

Amen †
