James 2; Verses 1-7; Judge correctly; Mercy; Compassion; Love
Thank you for taking a look!!!
(James 2:1-7) "My brethren, have not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with respect of persons.
(Preference over people because what they have and what they can do for you in return. This is not true motives from a pure heart. Like sitting in the church for example. One person gives more so they can sit up front. A person that thinks like that should not be in there anyway. This is not some "fashion" show. Who can look the prettiest).
Let's take a look where Christ taught. James is so amazing, always touching on the Gospels so directly:
(Same concept with the pharisees here. Bribery and preferential treatment. Till the person sits up front having power and the direction things go there forth. Essentially, resulting in that "house of God" is based on love of money and a den of thieves all in God's name. Playing favorites. This is selling people out. This of course, has the huge potential of making the poor bitter themselves. See it never ends).
(This of course leads to bondage as unsuspecting follow it and go the same route).
(Matthew 23:2-4) "Saying, The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat:
3All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do; but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not.
4For they bind heavy burdens and grievous to be borne, and lay them on men's shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers."
(Like tie them up in a rope, put a monkey on their back they cannot get out of. First spiritually then resulting in the physical. Then of course, the pharisee favorite to put down you're not blessed of God they say. Evil, cruel and just rotten behavior. So, let's not let it become us. Let's judge fairly, that is to say right from wrong. Talk about trying to tie right around someone's finger having them wrapped. Control with money evil indeed).
To James 2:2,
2For if there come unto your assembly a man with a gold ring, in goodly apparel, and there come in also a poor man in vile raiment;
(A gathering for Christ. The church is not a building. The candlesticks are the church ultimately, and the individuals with their lamps on within).
3And ye have respect to him that weareth the gay clothing, and say unto him, Sit thou here in a good place; and say to the poor, Stand thou there, or sit here under my footstool:
(Like a suit and tie now, as opposed to some sweatpants with holes and wrinkly t-shirt. Okay, no biggie. What is important? That person is there. Guess what? That person is there being blessed of God not having much. Not blaming God. Speaks volumes to their character as well. But the person showing preferential treatment, essentially saying coming here sit under my high-mindedness. This is imposing class warfare in a gathering of believers).
4Are ye not then partial in yourselves, and are become judges of evil thoughts?
(Sure they say, "we don't judge." That is a lie. The double standard of judging here. Switch roles of two people per say and it would not matter. Very wrong. James is pleading to cut it off here. Don't let it get to the next point which follows).
5Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him?
(Hearken = Don't be deaf here, dull of hearing, perception and worldview. Take thought here. Naturally, the poor would as the love of money is the root of all evil. Now it is quite foolish for a poor person to love money also).
6But ye have despised the poor. Do not rich men oppress you, and draw you before the judgment seats?
(Here you have it. Sitting in high places because of high minds. But yet at the same time richer man oppress them. James is using that to show they are doing what is done to them, and of course they don't like it. Everyone wants mercy and a fair trial. Then everyone better prepared to give on).
7Do not they blaspheme that worthy name by the which ye are called?
(The same rich over you hate Christ. Mock Him and despise Him. What sense does that make? Why James is posing the rhetorical question we also have to consider and reflect upon, then come repentance. See, there is no difference here in between them here. Now James is not saying they are not Christians. But, and a big but this needs to be nipped in the bud right here and now).
Amen!!!
