(Ecclesiastes 7:5-6) "It is better to hear the rebuke (reprove, in love) of the wise (skilled, common sense in God's Word), than for a man to hear the song of fools (music to one's ears, telling them what they want to hear).
6For as the crackling of thorns under a pot, so is the laughter of the fool: this also is vanity."
(Kind of like fingernails screeching and scraping down a chalkboard. But it comes and goes quickly is the point here. Noisy, untimely, Which is why the song reference in the previous in context. After the laugh, they are long gone. After this temporary, seemingly, heart-warming experience by the deceived and receiver).
The point is this is a bunch of racket, not in symphonic (if you will) harmony. Everyone can relate to that. Out of rhythm.
No pleasure here at all. Likewise, we should consider what goes in our ears, whether from the LORD or not.
(As we see here not laughing with, but laughing at, and laughing at one's own expense. Is the deceptive twist with that knife).
Therefore, we conclude this relationship is based on co-dependency in fulfillment of the lusts of the flesh/world/sin. No love can be found here.
(Nothing of substance here, nothing to see here)!
A likened end result from the chalkboard analogy:
It all chalks up to...
Use chalkboard eraser for both "parties" = Repentance/blotted out.
Extinguish the flaming madness. Whatever you have to do. Get it done.
The Holy Spirit is the heart-warmer/comforter. No coming and going there.
Finally, a lot better tune:
(Psalm 5:1-12) "{To the chief Musician upon Nehiloth, A Psalm of David.} Give ear to my words, O LORD, consider my meditation.
2Hearken unto the voice of my cry, my King, and my God: for unto thee will I pray.
3My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.
4For thou art not a God that hath pleasure in wickedness: neither shall evil dwell with thee.
5The foolish shall not stand in thy sight: thou hatest all workers of iniquity.
6Thou shalt destroy them that speak leasing: the LORD will abhor the bloody and deceitful man.
7But as for me, I will come into thy house in the multitude of thy mercy: and in thy fear will I worship toward thy holy temple.
8Lead me, O LORD, in thy righteousness because of mine enemies; make thy way straight before my face.
9For there is no faithfulness in their mouth; their inward part is very wickedness; their throat is an open sepulchre; they flatter with their tongue.
10Destroy
thou them, O God; let them fall by their own counsels; cast them out in
the multitude of their transgressions; for they have rebelled against
thee.
11But
let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice: let them ever shout
for joy, because thou defendest them: let them also that love thy name
be joyful in thee.
12For thou, LORD, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield."
AMEN
