(Proverbs 3:27) "Withhold not good from them to whom it is due, when it is in the power of thine hand to do it."
(Other Scriptures to look up directly; Romans 12:13; Hebrews 13:2; I Peter 4:9; III John 1:8; Titus 1:8; I Timothy 3:2; Luke 10:7). Also, when a Christian extends hospitality don't reject it (Matthew 10:10; Luke 10:7). Like rejecting the hand of the Lord, and affecting them/offending them. They want to do it. They work for the LORD).
This will cover fairness in dealings with the world in the broad sense. And hospitality for Christians. We look to the widow of Zarepath below as she would be considered an heathen outsider/outcast, and actually from Ahab (a true Israelite physically sold out God and then his people for political power and a women) and Jezebel.
(As faith without works is dead. This is not done in physical act alone. But a physical act may result of that is what is needed. The power of thine hand is one's own capability. (Seen in the parable of the talents and other places. But this is actually one step further. Rewarding others for their sincerity, seriousness in working for the LORD. And in general sense rewarding a person for their work. Covering all good and the right thing to do = Righteousness through Christ, done in faith).
Remember, the widow at Zarepath assisting Elijah. At the time she did not think she was worthy, nor had one idea the magnitude of the bigness of it all through her works. First keeping Elijah alive. Just think of what we would have never known all because her actions in moving in faith.
Likewise, your
"story" is not complete for the Lord. Though, when we can live in the
moment we can get a grasp of the bigness of it all. Though, not to get a
big-head, but doing fine work for the LORD.
Works (a production worker) are continuous (not random acts). To be employed by the Lord in heart and mind because He is the overseer, not man. But you never do know the exact work that can change HIStory in a major way. Such as the widow at Zarepath. Just a cup of cold-water can be refreshing, which would otherwise have someone going to burnout/tired/fainting in possible trouble to danger.
What greater words to here than, "Well done, good and faithful servant"? Now He gives more, He can trust. Just as any good relationship builds trust, based in love. Gaining in appreciation and thankfulness.
(I Kings 17:8-11) "And the word of the LORD came unto him, saying,
9Arise, get thee to Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and dwell there: behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee.
10So he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, behold, the widow woman was there gathering of sticks: and he called to her, and said, Fetch me, I pray thee, a little water in a vessel, that I may drink.
11And as she was going to fetch it, he called to her, and said, Bring me, I pray thee, a morsel of bread in thine hand."
(Matthew 10:40-42) "He that receiveth you receiveth me, and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me.
41He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet's reward; and he that receiveth a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man's reward.
42And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.
AMEN
