II Peter II; Verses 17-19; False Teachers (cont)

Thank you for checking out the post †

Christ warned over and over about in these times about false teachers. What do we look for? This takes knowing and understand the meat of the Word. So blessed are you if you see it, and not caught in their trap(s). Hebrews 5. Have you read it? Discern all good and evil? One verse here, one verse there revolving around one verse for 45 minutes to an hour is not God's Word. They make it up! It is legalism, man's tradition, making God's Word null and void.

(II Peter 2:17-19) "These are wells without water, clouds that are carried with a tempest (huge violent gust of wind/windstorm); to whom the mist of darkness is reserved for ever.

(A well without water does no one anyone good. It just takes up space--a waste. No one can drink the living water that is Christ).

(They carry that tempest, because all they can do is blow a bunch of hot air (their mouths). But with no rain and sun, nothing can grow. Kind of like the weatherman promising 100% chance of rain, but all you get is a dark cloudy day. No sun, or rain--a waste! Darkness they cause, and darkness they shall get. The pathetic thing here is the weatherman is more accurate. If one finds themselves with more questions than before then that is huge first sign of not delivering anything).

To sum it up the false teachers are huge on promises, but deliver nothing. Causing the famine, leading to spiritual dehydration. Like walking around in the desert wilderness running on empty searching in desperation for water. This picture how much we need God's true Word to sustain us: Can you imagine being in the desert in this desperation spotting a well a mile off, but it's a mirage? Or you get there and look down and nothing? Hopes crashed. So it is with the false teachers but those who heap to them don't know it.

18For when they speak great swelling, words of vanity (in vain), they allure (catch with bait, entice as a trap) through the lusts of the flesh (the things of the world first), through much wantonness (coveting), those that were clean escaped from them who live in error.

(Great swelling = They are emphatic. They are literally fishing for their own followers in God's name as well. satan sends his fisher of men. Christ of course told Peter to make fishers of men. The point is here they are setting a trap. What they do is catch the babes just learning).

19While they promise them liberty (freedom), they themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage.

(The truth will set you free, they say. Well yes, they have to say that but they cannot define nor apply the Word. Application comes through experience living it. Words like grace, faith, grace through faith, Jesus, freedom, etc, they say in vain).

(The evil spirits can repeat all these words in vain, but do not apply them. The teacher/preacher should be able to apply the Word verse by verse. And if they don't know something, admit it. Not lie).

Now the amazing analogy here is in John 21. Christ risen from the dead, He shows Peter and the other Disciples there. First the catching of the fish, showing the meat.

(John 21:4-5) "
But when the morning was now come, Jesus stood on the shore: but the disciples knew not that it was Jesus.

(Remember John also stands on the shore of the sea in Revelation 13:1 as the beast rises from among the people. Why? Not teaching God's Word. No meat of the Word).
5Then Jesus saith unto them, Children, have ye any meat? They answered him, No.

(John 21:15-17) "
So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs.

16He saith to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my sheep.

17He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep.

(Lamb = babes, Sheep = Mature. Fed and growing. The teacher/Pastor should be supplying and abundance of spiritual food).
